Expressway Okučani (Croatia)- B&H border / Phase 2, Section: interchange “Novi Varoš” – bridge on Sava: Full intensity works

Jul 19, 2024

Works on the construction of the expressway of the border of the Republic of Hungary – Virovitica – Okučani – the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, section: Okučani – the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2nd phase: the route of the expressway from km 4+620.00 to km 8+694.17, are executing with full intensity.

The embankment is brought to the subgrade on almost all parts of the route. Intensive work is being done on the load-bearing layers of the pavement, such as the layer of unbound granular stone material, the cement-stabilized load-bearing layer, and the bitumenized load-bearing layer. Works on the internal and external drainage of the expressway route are nearing completion.

On the plateau of the future border crossing, the embankment has been built up to the subgrade, a layer of unbound granulated stone material has also been partially built, and internal drainage works are being carried out.

Works on the lower structure of the “Kanal Nova Sava” (L = 523.40 m) and “Rukavac Strug” (L = 169.40 m) bridges have been completed, and the steel span construction has been incrementally launched. On the “Rukavac Strug” bridge, a reinforced concrete slab has been constructed, and the edge cornice of this bridge is to be constructed. On the “Kanal Nova Sava” bridge, work is underway on the construction of a reinforced concrete slab. These works are performed in stages (segments) with the use of a Peri VCC roller. Individual segments are l = 15 m long. At the construction site, 3 rollers are used at the same time, which determines that the expected completion date of the AB slab will be March 2025. About 210 workers are employed at the construction site, whose structure and number varies depending on the type of work. Most of them come from Integral inženjeringa, which includes a significant number of employees from surrounding towns.
