Low temperatures and unfavorable conditions for construction workers did not slow down the tunnel excavation for he needs of the HPP Dabar

It is the main structure within the system of “Gornji horizonti”. The construction officially begins on September 1, 2016.

The Government of the Republic of Srpska adopted the investment decision for the HPP Dabar of total value of 352 million BAM. Besides the HPP Dabar, the tunnel is precondition for the construction of three more power plants.

70 m of access tunnel Straževica is excavated from total length of 650 m. The ancillary structure will enable the construction workers access to the alignment of the main headrace tunnel until the end of February next year.

– We construct the headrace tunnel in length of 4 km on the left and right side from this construction site, explains Mr. Slobodan Ratković, the Project Manager of HPP Dabar.

The remaining four out of 12 km of tunnel will be excavated from direction of entrance of the future tunnel, says Ratković.

– The geology is changeable, but it is in the planned geological profile. The first 18 m of terrain geology was bad, but now we are on 67 m; we entered into caverns; we have to shutter, says Mr. Edvard Kastelic, the Site Manager.

The construction workers placed all installations before snow due to duration of the excavation during winter. 30 km of roads and power network, as well as water supply network, are constructed in the previous period.

HPP Dabar will cost 352 million BAM. One quarter of money will be supplied by Subsidiary Company “HPPs on the Trebišnjica” jsc Trebinje and the rest will be financed with loan.

Mr. Gordan Mišeljić, director of Subsidiary Company “HPPs on the Trebišnjica” jsc Trebinje states that they have a fair number of loan offers at this moment and that the tunnel construction will be financed by their own money.
Mr. Mišeljić confirmed that the remaining unsolved property-legal relations in the expropriation area for future accumulation of HPP Dabar do not effect on construction.

According to the investment decision of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, the construction of HPP Dabar will last 54 months.
With its production and production on downstream power plants, the electric power system of the Republic of Srpska should bring new more than 510 gigawatt hours of energy.
