On September 18, 2026, paving of the first base asphalt layer began at the start of the Rača-Bijeljina motorway section, to be followed immediately by the laying of the second binder layer and then the third wearing course. In parallel with these works, a 700 m connecting road is being built between the M-I 115 (M18) main road and the motorway near the new bridge over the Sava River.
This will enable the new Kuzmin-Rača motorway, with its integrated border crossing, to be opened for use in both directions as early as mid-October this year.
